What is Operation REWATA? What is the purpose of Operation REWATA?
Operation REWATA stands for Operation Recycling Water Away To Africa. The purpose of this project is to help one attain fundamental patience, perseverance, and humility in the real world, and at the same time use these cardinal attributes and efforts towards a good cause to human life.
Patience, perseverance, and humility are key traits in becoming a successful citizen of the future. This operation requires patience and perseverance in order to succeed, and asking for free donations in the form of recyclables is a sign of humble humility. Operation REWATA requires courage in essence to step out to the community and ask for a helping hand.
Recycling bins are not provided by the Sheldon High School on the exterior campus. All recycling containers are inside the classrooms. The reason for this is because there is not enough funding to provide effort to separate waste thrown into the recycling containers by recyclables and non-recyclables. This operation will install recycling containers on the exterior campus, and a majority of time towards the project will be spent maintaining the recycling bins in a consistent fashion.
All accumulated profits of Operation REWATA will be donated to an African Well Charity of choice. Participants of Operation REWATA receive no money despite the hours and efforts spent to making the Operation a success.
How is Operation REWATA executed?
Operation REWATA comprises of four phases:
1) Attaining recyclable containers.
2) Announcing the operation to the community.
3) Contributing time and effort to maintain the recyclable containers on campus.
4) Taking the recyclables to a recycling center to exchange for profit donation.
This operation requires the following materials (allocated to each Phase)
· Form of Request to borrow recycling bins, supplies, etc. (Phase 1).
· Art supplies/Butcher Paper/Lamination (Phase 1).
· Plastic Bags for recycling bins (Phase 3).
PHASE 1
Recycling bins must be provided by either the participant of the project, or the school. A form is necessary to fill out if recycling containers are borrowed from the school (if available – see Administration). Once attained, recycling bins must be artistically decorated to be distinguishable around the school to explain the purpose of Operation REWATA.
PHASE 2
Once recycling containers are borrowed and decorated, the community must be alerted of operation commencement. Publicity of the Operation can be carried out in the form of:
i. Bulletin Boards in the Cafeteria.
ii. Morning Announcements
iii. Student Senate Meetings
iv. Posters/Flyers to teachers and in classrooms.
v. Etc…
It is crucial to the success of the Operation that the community is aware of the commencement of the Operation. The community if the prime provider of the recyclables! Be sure to set a commencement date and a termination date.
PHASE 3 and PHASE 4
Now it is time to start the bulk of the Operation. Phases 3 and 4 are executed simultaneously.
Phase 3 requires the participant to place the recycling bins in appropriate areas of the school with discretion as to where the best collections locations of recyclables would be. Ideally, locations must be studied to ensure best success. In a timely fashion the, the recyclables should be checked consistently. Once a bin is full, then the participant must separate recyclables and non-recyclables into a bag for collection, then proceed to Phase 4.
Phase 4 requires the participant to take the accumulation of recyclables at discretion in a timely fashion to a recycling center that would redeem the recyclables for money. A log and receipt must be kept of all transactions.
Phases 3 and 4 must be repeated up to termination date of the project.
